Kopex Gets New IT System
September 17, 2008 By A.R.
Article's tools:

Kopex, a Polish engineering corporation that carries out investment projects in sectors such as coal, lignite and nonferrous metals, is installing a new Enterprise Resource Planning system to unify management of the group, which includes more than 50 companies, both Polish and foreign. The project marks one of the largest information technology projects in Poland's heavy industry to date. As part of the project, an electronic data bank will be created at Kopex's headquarters in Katowice, southern Poland.

The new system, called IFS Applications, will take until December next year to introduce, after which it will have about 800 users within the Kopex group. When Kopex began installing the new system in May last year, the group comprised 30 manufacturing, service and trade companies. By mid-June this year, the corporation included more than 50 businesses, some of them operating abroad, in countries such as Germany, China, Australia, Indonesia, and Serbia.

"The new system allows us to collect complete information on the operations of all the companies in the group and, equally importantly, ensures constant access to that information," said Kopex's vice-president Krzysztof Jędrzejewski.
