Wojciech Weiss & Aneri Irena Weiss: Paintings
This exhibition takes a fresh perspective on the work of Wojciech Weiss (1875-1950), a leading painter of the Young Poland movement of the early 20th century. Also on display are paintings by his wife Irena (1888-1981), who was otherwise known as Aneri, which was an anagram of her first name. Wojciech Weiss is mainly associated with spectacular symbolic paintings reflecting the decadent mood of the late 19th century, but his works also show him as a master of color and intimate art.

Cracow, National Museum, Kamienica Szołayskich, 11 Szczepańska St., until Sept. 21.

19th- and 20th-Century European Seascapes
The exhibition features European marine paintings of the 19th and 20th centuries, including work by Polish artists such as Mela Muter, Ferdynand Ruszczyc, Julian Fałat, and Tadeusz Makowski.

The works on display depict seaport landscapes, scenes from the life of fishermen and sailors, cutters, yachts and steamships. Of special note are the works of Eugen Dekkert, a German painter born in the city of Szczecin, now in northwestern Poland.

Sopot, Sopocki Dom Aukcyjny auction house, 43 Bohaterów Monte Cassino St., until Sept. 30
