Poland is one of more than 100 countries marking World Heart Day Sept. 28. The aim is to prevent lifestyle-related heart problems, which claim 17.5 million lives every year worldwide.

Zamość, a city in Lublin province in eastern Poland, is hosting the biggest series of events organized by the Polish Cardiological Society under the slogan "Does your heart need help?" The day's attractions include a big picnic on Zamość market square, during which there will be performances by musicians and cabaret groups. Heart specialists and experts will be on hand to offer advice on a healthy lifestyle, fitness and diet. Visitors will also have a chance to check their fitness level and have their cholesterol level and blood pressure measured.
