Dancers Set Double Record

A total of 1,635 couples set a world record by dancing simultaneously Aug. 31 on Cracow's Old Town Square. The event, organized by commercial television broadcaster TVN, was open to anyone-amateurs and dance professionals, families and individuals.

The event started at 3 p.m. and dance classes began at 4:30, led by professional dancers Iwona Pavlović and Agustin Egurrola. They were helped by the participants in Taniec z gwiazdami and You can dance-Po prostu tańcz, two TV shows produced by TVN. At 5 p.m. a Guinness World Records official announced the record had been broken in two categories, the largest number of dancing couples and the largest number of people dancing the cha-cha together-3,270.
