Katarzyna Staniszewska, Anna Wrona, Anna Pochopień and duos Jakub Ziemirski-Krzysztof Piwnik and Beata Piskorz-Ewa Walkowiak are the finalists of this year's Konkurs Mody UPS 2008 - a fashion competition organized by courier firm UPS.

The winner will be chosen once the finalists have actually made their qualifying designs, and will be announced during the New Look Design Gala 2008 to be held in Warsaw in November. At stake is zl.12,000.

"This has attracted a great deal of interest," says Dorota Wróblewska, who owns the Forget-Me-Not fashion house, the competition's partner. "We received a lot of really interesting projects so selecting the finalists was never going to be easy."

Contestants were given the challenge of creating haute couture collections inspired by the theme of "Chocolate Glamour" and the UPS company colors. The competition was announced July 13 during Warsaw Fashion Street 2008 event.

UPS has been supporting up-and-coming young fashion and design talent in the United States since 2003 and in Europe since 2005. The company has organized fashion events in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Poland.

"This is the second fashion competition UPS has organized in Poland," says UPS Polska Sales Director Grzegorz Kochman. "We are delighted to see that the competition has attracted such a groundswell of interest among talented, young designers."

The New Look Design is an international competition open to young designers and one of Poland's major fashion events. It is extremely popular and widely recognized in fashion, culture and arts circles, attracting more than 300 designers from around the world last year.
