Two prizewinners of the Midem Classical Award 2008, violinist Patrycja Piekutowska and pianist Beata Bilińska, will give a recital together at Fabryka Trzciny Sept. 28.

Piekutowska, one of the greatest Polish violinists today, has a repertoire that includes music by Lutosławski, Paderewski, Wieniawski, Sibelius and Penderecki. She has been a teacher at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw since 2002.

Bilińska is a leading Polish pianist, prizewinner of many international piano competitions (including the Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Bolzano and the Rina Sala Gallo Competition in Monza). She has performed for many years in symphony concerts, solo recitals and chamber concerts, in Poland and abroad, winning numerous awards and international recognition.

In January 2008 Piekutowska and Bilińska were the first Polish classical musicians to receive one of the biggest music prizes in the world, the Midem Classical Award, in the contemporary music category. On their prizewinning CD of music by Krzysztof Penderecki, they were accompanied by the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra conducted by the composer himself.

During their upcoming recital at Fabryka Trzciny, the artists will perform works by Ernest Bloch, Krzysztof Penderecki, Karol Szymanowski, Grażyna Bacewicz, Witold lutosławski and Astor Piazzolla.
