Woman and the Seven Deadly Sins

This exhibition by Agnieszka Szyfter is aimed at the contemporary woman, guilty of her own femininity. "I decided to show women committing the seven deadly sins. Here they are in no particular order-gluttony, lust, greed, sloth, envy, pride and wrath," says Szyfter.

These new works are a humorous take on women's "little sins and vices" as well as their emotions and longing for affection. Szyfter shows them as if reflected in a distorting fairground mirror. "My paintings are inspired by life," says Szyfter. "I draw inspiration from the media, photographs including many advertisements, newspapers, the internet and television. I reveal the world through a sort of stained-glass window full of lively and intense colors, which is joyful, dynamic and often beautiful. I do not like ugliness. I portray the world as I would like it to be."
