Galeria Echo Expands
Developer Echo Investment has started expanding its Galeria Echo shopping and entertainment center in Kielce, south-central Poland. The company is building a 43,000-sq-m seven-story garage for 1,500 cars on a plot it has leased from the Kielce University of Technology.

The garage will be ready next May, increasing the center's parking capacity to 2,300 cars.

In March, the developer will begin expanding the shopping and entertainment section of Galeria Echo, along with the construction of a sports arena for the university.

The works are scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010. Ultimately Galeria Echo will offer 159,000 sq m of space, including 66,000 sq m for lease. The project will cost around zl.400 million.

Malls More Disabled-Friendly
Shopping and entertainment centers owned by Echo Investment, one of the biggest real estate investors and developers in Poland, have become more friendly toward disabled customers using guide dogs. Special labels with the image of a guide dog and the slogan "Let's help together" have been posted at the entrance to the Galaxy center in Szczecin, Pasaż Grunwaldzki in Wrocław, Galeria Echo in Kielce, and shopping malls in Tarnów, Radom, Przemy¶l, Piotrków Trybunalski, Pabianice, Bełchatów, and Jelenia Góra.

The campaign aims to attract people's attention to the role of guide dogs and to encourage a change of attitude among staff in stores and public offices who often refuse entrance to people with guide dogs.
