Cracow's Willa Decjusza conference center is hosting an international conference dedicated to the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals Oct. 16. The conference, entitled The Millennium Goals of Culture?, is being organized by the Villa Decius Association in Cracow. It will focus on the work of international institutions responsible for the introduction of the Millennium Development Goals. The conference will be accompanied by workshops for members of nongovernmental organizations as part of the British Council's Intercultural Navigators program being run in nine countries in central and northern Europe. The program aims to train people to initiate and develop intercultural dialogue.

The conference will also be accompanied by the presentation of an award named after Sergio Vieira de Mello, UN high commissioner for human rights in 2002-2003. The award was established five years ago to be presented annually to individuals and nongovernmental organizations contributing to the peaceful coexistence and cooperation of communities, religions and cultures.
