Unia Teatr Niemożliwy (Impossible Theater Union) and Stara Prochoffnia are staging Warsaw's third puppet theater festival for adults Oct. 20-26. The event, entitled Puppets Are People Too, features more than 25 shows at both the Stara Prochoffnia and Teatr Lalek.

"Our festival is aimed at everyone wishing to discover this distinct art form which is neither an infantile reflection of real theater nor an imitation of anything else," explains Marek Chodaczyński, the festival's artistic director.

This year's festival will feature internationally renowned troupes from Poland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Spain, Israel, Germany, Russia, Slovenia, Hungary and the United States. The plays deal with universal themes close to everyone's heart and always pertinent: love, hatred, happiness, loneliness or the eternal fight between good and evil.
