Ready for Thin Lizzy?

Article's tools:

The legendary Irish hard rock and heavy metal band Thin Lizzy will perform at Warsaw's Stodoła club Oct. 27.

The group, famous for songs such as "Whiskey in the Jar" (1973), "The Boys Are Back in Town" (1976), and "Jailbreak," is making its first-ever appearance in Poland.

The band was set up in 1969 in Dublin by Phil Lynott, a bass player, vocalist and composer inspired by Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Bruce springsteen and Irish literature. In their original lineup, which also included Eric Bell on guitar, Brian Downey on drums, and Eric Wrixon on keyboards, Thin Lizzy were among the first groups to employ double lead guitar harmony. This style was later used most prominently by Iron Maiden.

The band's first hit "Whiskey in the Jar" of 1973 was followed by an album that was one of Thin Lizzy's greatest successes, Jailbreak and then Johnny the Fox, both released in 1976.

The musicians stopped playing together in 1984, while Lynott continued to perform solo until his death in 1986.

The group got back together in 1993 to record Dedication, a single commemorating Lynott.

Today the group performs with the following lineup: John Sykes (vocals, guitar), Scott Gorham (guitar), Tommy Aldridge (drums), and Francesco DiCosmo (bass).
