Night of the Cabaret Kings

Poland has a tradition of cabaret stretching back many decades. Warsaw's Kongresowa Hall is hosting an array of Polish cabaret stars who shaped the nation's sense of humor during the communist era in Poland. They will perform together on one stage after a long hiatus Nov. 6. Their skits are as topical as ever, and appreciated by the younger generation.

The Night of Masters at the Kongresowa Hall will feature popular actors such as Jan Kobuszewski, Wiesław Michnikowski and Magdalena Zawadzka. These formed the core of the legendary Cabaret of the Elderly Gentlemen television series of the 1960s and 1970s and the of cult cabaret show Dudek.

Actors Andrzej Kopiczyński, Andrzej Grabowski, Włodzimierz Nowak, Marian Opania, Wiktor Zborowski, Andrzej Strzelecki, Andrzej Poniedzielski and Tadeusz Suchocki, who often appear in cabaret programs on Polish television and in Polish radio dramas, will also perform.

The program includes postwar classical cabaret pieces by outstanding Polish cabaret artists and writers, including poet Jeremi Przybora and popular poetic song writer Wojciech Młynarski.
