Warsaw Philharmonic on U.S. Tour
November 5, 2008
Article's tools:

Musicians from the National Philharmonic in Warsaw are on a 17-date tour of the east coast of the United States in November. The tour started Nov. 1 with a concert at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, Florida. The closing concert will take place Nov. 21 at the Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland. The previous time the orchestra and conductor Antoni Wit came to the United States was in 2004.

In New York City, the National Philharmonic will play Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. at the Grace Rainer Rogers Auditorium at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. During the concert, the musicians will be joined on stage by pianist Valentina Lisitsa. Born in Kiev in what is now Ukraine, she is lauded by critics as "a once-in-a-generation talent." Apart from solo concerts, Lisitsa often plays piano duets with husband Alexei Kuznetsoff. The program of the New York concert features works by Mieczysław Karłowicz, Franz Liszt, and Johannes Brahms. Tickets cost $45.
