An annual Conference on Public and Cultural Diplomacy was held in Warsaw Oct. 27-30, attended by directors of Polish institutes abroad as well as cultural, science and press attachés at Polish diplomatic missions. The Foreign Ministry's civil servants responsible for promotional activity discussed priorities in the area of public and cultural promotion and shared experiences with institutions and partners based in Poland.

Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski attended the opening of the conference. The program included panel discussions devoted to the promotion of Polish film and theater abroad and cooperation between Polish institutes and partners in other EU countries within the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) group. Also discussed were preparations for Chopin Year to be celebrated in 2010. As part of the conference, a meeting was held with officials of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. It provided an opportunity for the presentation of projects launched by this institution, including one entitled Polish Righteous Among the Nations-Recalling Forgotten History.
