Former president Aleksander Kwasniewski said Tuesday after holding talks with the Palikot Movement, a new left-leaning political party, that he wants to help form a center-left coalition that would give voters an alternative to the ruling Civic Platform (PO).
Kwasniewski said an agreement between left-wing and center-left groups would not be easy and such a task would need patience.
Kwasniewski is to hold talks Wednesday with Leszek Miller, head of the left-wing Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) party.
The once-powerful Democratic Left Alliance came a distant fifth in Poland's October's parliamentary elections with a mere 8.3 percent of votes. But the recently-formed Palikot Movement, led by flamboyant former PO deputy Janusz Palikot, came third in a surprisingly strong performance with 10 percent of the vote.
