Lonely Planet launched its annual Best in Travel 2009 guide Oct. 16.

Warsaw was mentioned in the guide for the first time. The Polish capital was named as one of top 10 cities to visit for a break next year. Lonely Planet says that although Warsaw has had a turbulent history and was completely destroyed during World War II, the city is developing rapidly and has many interesting spots and a unique atmosphere. Glasgow is considered to be the most trendy city in the world for 2009, and other top cities include Antwerp, Beirut, Chicago, Lisbon, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, and Zurich.
