Clean Business is a practical action programme designed to assist companies and other organizations without relevant in-house expertise to improve their environmental performance. The programme is a self-help scheme based on mobilizing companies to learn from the experience of others and to work in partnership with others. Participating in Clean Business requires making a commitment to improving environmental performance and using an internet-based tool-the Environment Manager-to monitor, verify and report on progress.

As a contribution to the Poznań Climate Conference, Clean Business companies have signed on to the UN Kick the CO2 Habit campaign, which was launched on World Environment Day 2008. The campaign is based on the premise that everyone has the obligation and opportunity to undertake practical action to reduce their own carbon footprint and asks individuals, companies, governments, civil society groups, schools and other organizations to commit to practical action. The Clean Business programme is open to all companies, providing them with a practical opportunity to work with others on an ongoing basis to Kick the CO2 Habit.
