The Center for Contemporary Art (CSW) at the Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw is hosting a collective exhibition of works by the winners and selected participants of the 5th Samsung Art Master (SAM) nationwide competition for young artists.

The competition is intended for art academy students and recent graduates, and aims to support talented up-and-coming artists. Samsung says the competition "subscribes to what has always been the power of young art: intellectual independence, nonconformism, creativity, courage and originality, and a fresh look at art and reality."

The competition is open to artists interested in all contemporary artistic media, including painting, video, photography, performance art, intermedia productions, installations, and public space projects.

This year artists from more than 20 art schools submitted nearly 500 works for the contest, mainly new media and video projects. Five artists tied for the top prize: Aleksandra Czerniawska and Piotr Wysocki of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and Dimitri Kielbasiewicz, Michał Piotrowski and Piotr Żyliński of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. Each winner received zl.6,000 in prize money.

The exhibition is open until Dec. 7. Ujazdowski Castle CSW, 2 Jazdów St. www.csw.art.pl
