Prosecutors in Cracow conducting an investigation into the kidnapping of a Polish engineer in Pakistan have confirmed they have received a letter from him. Neither the Foreign Ministry nor Geofizyka Kraków, the company which employs the engineer, have commented on the letter.

The engineer was kidnapped Sept. 28 around 200 kilometers to the south-west of Islamabad by armed Taliban fighters who killed three Pakistanis who accompanied him. In mid-October a video recording was released in which the Pole appealed to the Pakistani government to meet the Taliban's demands, which would save his life and secure his release. The kidnappers have demanded the release of Taliban members from Pakistani prisons.
