The Warsaw Voice is a media partner for the Clean Coal and Nuclear Technologies for Combating Climate Change conference to be held in Będlewo near Poznań, in western Poland, Dec. 7-9. The conference is being organized by Jerzy Buzek, a former Polish prime minister who is now a member of the European Parliament and its rapporteur for the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan-together with the European Energy Forum and Poland's National Contact Point for EU Research Programmes.

The conference's objectives include:
  • Promotion of Clean Coal Technologies such as underground coal gasification and coal-to-liquid, coal-to-gas and coal-to-hydrogen technologies in the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan
  • Promotion of the EU Flagship Programme and Polish industrial plants aspiring to join the programme: PGE Bełchatów and PKE/ZAK Kędzierzyn
  • Preparation of project proposals for the European Union's 7th Framework Programme (FP7) in the Clean Coal Technology area
  • Promotion of Polish Clean Coal Technologies that should be put into commercial use
  • Promotion of nuclear energy as part of efforts to combat climate change

Polish government officials, 15 members of the European Parliament, European Commission officials, the CEOs of major Polish and European companies, and the heads of three European and two Polish technology platforms, have confirmed their intention to take part in the conference.

Considering the importance of the meeting and the weight of the subjects to be discussed, we have decided to brief our readers on the momentous issues related to global climate protection and up-to-date clean energy technologies.
