The Stefan Kisielewski Room of the Palace of Culture and Science (PKiN) in Warsaw is hosting the Warszawiacy i inni (Varsovians and Others) exhibition of photography Dec. 9-Jan. 3 (ground floor, access to the right of main entrance). Photographer Krzysztof Gierałtowski is to display 12 black-and-white archival photographs, including portraits of writer Leopold Tyrmand, military expert Tadeusz Pióro and theater director Erwin Axer, selected by curators of branches of the National Museum in Wrocław and Warsaw for the Polska fotografia XX wieku (Polish 20th-Century photography) exhibition.

The new exhibition includes color laser print-outs of 17 large-size 125x150 cm portraits of celebrities, including famous Polish singer Jacek Kaczmarski, Nobel prize winner for literature Czesław Miłosz, science fiction writer Stanisław Lem and philosopher Leszek Kołakowski, and 40 smaller, 50x60 cm color portraits depicting, among others, film director Krzysztof Kie¶lowski, sociologist Jadwiga Staniszkis, economist Leszek Balcerowicz and playwright Sławomir Mrożek.

An exhibition catalog and posters will be available at the opening and throughout the exhibition. To view the photographs go to www.gieraltowski.pl
