Article's tools:

They travel around the world to spread the good word. Their performances are jovial and full of energy. It has become a near tradition in the past few years that the Harlem Gospel Choir visits Poland just before Christmas. This time the famous choir has scheduled three concerts, Dec. 21-23, in Cracow, Toruń and Warsaw.

The Harlem Gospel Choir was founded in 1988 by Allen Bailey, who in the past worked with Lionel Richie, Prince, and Michael Jackson.

The incredible mixture of primal African rhythms, religious singing, soul, funk and blues is admired across the world. Michael R. Bloomberg, the mayor of New York, even declared Jan. 15 Harlem Gospel Choir Day.

The World of Hope concert in 2004, in which they performed with U2, has gone down in history. The choir has a plethora of famous songs in its repertoire: "Amazing Grace," the traditional song "Swing Long Sweet Chariot," "I Believe I Can Fly," and "All You Need Is Love" by The Beatles.

During its career, the Harlem Gospel Choir has collaborated with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and Lauryn Hill.

Dec. 23, Sala Kongresowa, 1 Defilad Sq., 8 p.m.
