British band The Stranglers, formed in 1974, will play the Proxima club Jan. 18. The Warsaw gig is part of the band's tour promoting FortyTwoForty, a greatest hits compilation.

The band started from low-key rock concerts at English pubs, after which they added synthesizers to their punk rock sound. In the following years, their style gravitated towards traditional rock. The bass guitar played by J.J. Burnel added a characteristic metallic sound.

Their compilation features hits such as "No More Heroes," "Strange Little Girl," "Golden Brown" and "Always The Sun," many of which The Stranglers are expected to play during their concert in Warsaw.

Jan. 18, 8 p.m., Proxima club, 99a Żwirki i Wigury St., tickets zl.89, www.ticketonline.pl
