The National Philharmonic is Feb. 3 staging a special Mendelssohn concert to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth. Czech string quartet Talich Quartet will perform the concert in the Philharmonic's Kameralna chamber.

Felix Mendelssohn's chamber music is exceptionally romantic. The Talich Quartet will create just such an atmosphere for the Warsaw public. The string quartet has been performing for over 40 years under the leadership of its founder, Jan Talich, an excellent violin player who plays on a 1729 Stradivarius. The quartet is made up of Talich and Petr Macecek on violins, Vladimir Bukac on viola and Petr Prause on cello.

Feb. 3, 7 p.m.
The National Philharmonic, Kameralna, Hall, 5 Jasna St.
