Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government is run of the mill, while President Lech Kaczyński and his aides are mediocre, internet users have said on a new website set up to allow voters to rate the performance of politicians.

The www.dobrzypolitycy.pl (good politicians) site, launched Jan. 8, categorizes politicians as lower house members, senators, ministers or presidential staff. There are additional categories for European and local government politicians. Performance is graded on a scale of one to six where one means scandalous and six outstanding.

"So far, we have 49 people but the list is still open," says Zbigniew Górniak, a journalist from the southern city of Opole who came up with the idea for the site and helped create it.

Anyone can add politicians to the list but an editorial team will scrutinize them first. "Visitors nominate politicians and we'll try to describe what it was they did to make them so popular," says Górniak.

The site had 1,800 hits on day one and more than 4,500 on day two.
