February 4, 2009 By P.M.
Article's tools:

Saxon & Iced Earth, two giants of heavy metal music, will play the Stodoła club in Warsaw Feb. 15.

Iced Earth are an American power-metal band formed in Florida in 1984. Their lyrics deal with morality, existence, change as well as religion, philosophy and fantasy. Through sheer hard work and solid musical ability Iced Earth have practically attained cult status, especially in the United States and Germany. This will be their first concert in Poland.

Saxon are a British band formed in 1976 who first appeared under the name Son of a Bitch. Part of the new wave of British heavy metal, they are one of the most charismatic live bands ever, fans say. Their songs are epic portrayals of the rock'n'roll lifestyle, of which biking and concert-going are essential components. Their current line-up is: Biff Byford (vocals) Paul Quinn and Doug Scaratt (guitars), Nigel Glockler (drums) and Nibbs Carter (bass).

Saxon last played in Poland in 2007. Their concert in Stodoła is part of The Battalions of Steel Tour featuring Saxon and Iced Earth.

Feb. 15, Stodoła, 10 Batorego St., 7 p.m. Tickets: zl.100-110, www.stodola.pl, www.eventim.pl, tel. 0-22 825-60-31
