The Polish Navy participated in numerous operations and international exercises last year in the Baltic, North Sea, Atlantic and Mediterranean. The Generał Kazimierz Pułaski guided-missile frigate took part in the Standing NATO Response Force Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) operations in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, while the Kondor submarine is taking part in NATO's Operation Active Endeavour in the Mediterranean. The latter exercise seeks to prevent terrorist activity as well as enhance the security of shipping on one of the world's most important maritime routes.

As in the past, the crews of Polish ships, planes and helicopters will take part in various NATO exercises and operations this year alongside other international units. Among them are the annual BALTOPS exercises within the framework of NATO's Partnership for Peace program, the Northern Coast missile frigate exercises, the Cold Response anti-submarine exercises, and the Polish-Swedish Crown Eagle exercise in submarine crew recovery.
