Lidia Bids for Eurovision Glory

The song "I Don't Wanna Leave" performed by Lidia Kopania won the finals of the Polish heats of the Eurovision Song Contest during the Song for Europe 2009 concert Feb. 14. In May, Kopania will go to Moscow to compete against singers from other European countries in the 54th Eurovision Song Contest. The Song for Europe 2009 concert, featuring 10 finalists, took place at the new Polish Television (TVP) studio in Warsaw.

Poland entered the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1994 with its most successful entry to date. Edyta Górniak came in second with the song "To nie ja."
