Gold and Platinum Night for Roma Theater
March 4, 2009
Article's tools:

The Platinium Club in Warsaw hosted a ceremony Feb. 23 during which the Akademia Pana Kleksa (Mr. Kleks's Academy) album was awarded gold status and Upiór w Operze (The Phantom of the Opera) double platinum. The albums feature tracks from two hit shows at the Roma Music Theater.

The first album contains songs from Akademia Pana Kleksa, a musical based on a book by Jan Brzechwa with a libretto by Daniel Wyszogrodzki, score by Andrzej Korzyński and directed by Roma director Wojciech Kępczyński. The album was released in February 2007 and has sold 5,000 copies.

The album with songs from the Upiór w Operze musical, Kępczyński's production of the famous Andrew Lloyd Webber show, was released just three months ago, but it has already sold over 20,000 copies. The album has made history as the first set of theater musical soundtracks in Poland to make it to the top ten on the albums sales chart. The Polish production at the Roma Theater has proved a spectacular success with over 200 shows to date, always playing to a full house. So far, it has been seen by almost 250,000 people and is still as popular as ever, with tickets already on sale for performances in May.
