New Country Manager in Poland
March 4, 2009
Article's tools:

Agnieszka Walter brings international experience and knowledge to lead CPL Jobs Sp. z o.o. in Poland, part of CPL Resources Plc.

Walter joined CPL in April 2008 and is responsible for growing CPL's market position and promoting the company's brand in Poland. Walter's journey with recruitment began over six years ago in Dublin, Ireland. She started as a recruitment consultant but proved her exceptional leadership and project management skills and quickly climbed the career ladder to the managerial position, responsible for international projects.

With an M.A. degree in International Business and Management, extensive knowledge of the CEE market, international relations as well as strong business contacts, she brings expertise and exceptional ideas for business development to the Polish market.

Why did you accept this challenging role with CPL?
I had many reasons to accept the Country Manager position with CPL. Leading market position in Ireland, tradition, expertise and people are the most important factors which made me believe in the success of CPL's vision for Poland. Anne Heraty, CEO and founder of CPL began the recruitment game in 1989. Starting with technical recruitment, she gradually expanded the business by both organic growth and acquisitions to make CPL a leading Irish provider of specialist recruitment and HR outsourcing services with operations in six EU countries and partnerships globally. Anne is a fantastic businesswoman, dedicated to her job, giving an example of how much one person can achieve at the same time finding work and life balance, not forgetting real values in life. She has been awarded prizes such as Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2006, Veuve Cliquot Woman of the Year, and many more.

I understand that you are very dedicated to the company but you also mentioned that CPL has operations in six EU countries and I heard that you speak fluent English, German and Spanish, so why Poland?
Poland is my home to which I had always planned to return. I love the idea that I can use all my knowledge, all my experience gained abroad to build enterprise, to contribute to develop the Polish market. This is why I studied and worked abroad for so many years to observe new trends, to learn the best practices and now transfer them back home. I am also very happy with the fact I am not the only one as many Polish talents are returning home. CPL conducted a survey in November 2008 which showed that weekly up to 1,300 Polish professionals are planning to return home only from Ireland within the next 12 months.

Do you believe all those people will be able to find satisfying work and life conditions in Poland? Unfortunately, the market situation is not the best.

I agree the market situation is not at its peak, but I also see advantages and opportunities which Poland has to offer despite the global economic downturn.

For example, the wave of cost cuts caused by the economic downturn is fueling demand for business process outsourcing, and Poland, with its skilled work force, is one of the most popular destinations. Many of our clients decided to move operations to Poland because of the Polish migrants who worked for them abroad. We just need to make sure that all this talent and potential will not be wasted and this is also part of my job.

CPL in Poland - CPL Jobs Sp. z o.o. has two branches in Warsaw and Cracow and is planning further expansion.
