IRA, a legendary Polish rock/metal band formed in the late 1980s, have been regularly playing concerts since their stage comeback a few years back. They are coming to Warsaw's Proxima club March 25 to play unplugged.

IRA is one of the few Polish bands playing a gentler variation of heavy metal. The band has three gold records and one platinum to its credit. The albums Mój Dom, 1993 Rok and the concert recording IRA Live quickly pushed the group to the forefront of the Polish rock scene. IRA have played at all the major Polish rock festivals, including the Jarocin Festival three times, Destination woodstock and the Odjazdy Festival.

In 1994 the band was chosen from among a hundred Polish rock groups to support aerosmith in a concert. In the late 1990s

IRA veered away from their distinctive style. But their new work did not find favor with fans and soon the band split up. IRA returned to the Polish music scene in 2001. The band's new songs made it to the Polish charts and in 2002 the group was nominated for the Fryderyk 2002 award for the album Tu i Teraz, and two years later for the album Ogień. The band is currently on tour in Poland. They have sold over 2 million records to date.
