English-Irish singer-songwriter Antony Hegarty and his New York City-based group Antony and the Johnsons will give a guest performance at the Wielki Theater in Warsaw April 29.

While Hegarty's songs are said to be filled with sorrow and difficult to listen to, he is capable of expressing emotions with a depth that is unattainable for other artists.

In 2005, Antony and the Johnsons played 200 concerts around the world, and Hegarty also appeared in a documentary about Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen. The Antony and the Johnsons' 2005 album I Am a Bird Now won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in Britain.

In Poland, Antony and the Johnsons played at the Malta International Theater Festival in Poznań and at last year's Stage Song Review in Wrocław. The concert at the Wielki Theater will promote the group's latest album, The Crying Light, which came out in January.
