Polish missile frigate Gen. K. Pułaski took part in the Basic Taskgroup Training/Advanced Unit Training (BATT/AUT) maneuvers in the Danish Straits together with the Danish navy in late March and early April. The exercises, which began March 23, were held by the Danish navy to train warship and aircraft crews to combat piracy and terrorism at sea and deal with attacks on sea convoys. The Gen. K. Pułaski returned to Poland April 4.

The Danish Straits are a region of strategic importance to sea transportation, with heavy traffic between the Baltic states and the North Sea. The area is difficult to navigate as it abounds in narrow straits and other dangers. The volume of cargo transported via the Danish Straits is estimated at 250 million tons annually.
