This is the 62nd Hannover Messe event. This time the key themes will be industrial automation, power engineering, engines and, as usual, innovations. One of the slogans promoting the event is "visiting tomorrow's world today." It would be hard to find a better venue if you are looking for a place where the technology of the future is within arm's reach.

This year's fair will include 13 sector events at which visitors will be able to review the latest innovations that are sure to change the image of many branches of industry in the coming years.

These include nine annual events: Interkama-process automation; Factory Automation-production automation; Industrial Building Automation; Digital Factory-integrated industrial process and IT and telecommunications systems; Subcontracting-deliveries of materials, components and systems for the automotive, machine and industrial equipment industries; Energy-power generation from conventional and renewable sources, electricity deliveries, power transmission and distribution; Power Plant Technology-innovative solutions for power plants and power distribution companies; Micro Technology-microsystem technologies and nanotechnology; and Research & Technology-the latest in research and development.

Three more events are held at Hannover Messe every two years: Motion, Drive & Automation-drives and liquid technology; Surface Technology-surface processing; and ComVac-vacuum and compressed air technologies.

An event called Wind will premiere this year, covering power generation from wind and hydroelectric plants and planned as a biannual fair. The organizers are convinced that Wind will be an especially popular event. That is no surprise, seeing as the problem of finding alternative energy sources had grown into one of the major issues for many economies around the world in recent years. The energy efficiency of industrial processes will be a leading theme at the entire Hannover Messe event this year.

Apart from the main trade fairs, Hannover Messe will also feature over 90 special events during which experts will give 1,800 lectures on various areas of technological research. For the younger generation, there will be TectoYou, held for the third time, an event designed to give young visitors the opportunity to learn about the future job market related to industrial technologies.

Another traditional event will be the Global Business Forum, comprising a trade fair, a conference and a contact forum devoted primarily to problems of the global market and exports. This year, the forum will bring together representatives of over 3,000 medium-sized European businesses planning further growth and expansion into global markets.

This year the partner country of Hannover Messe is South Korea, the European Union's fourth-largest trading partner. South Korea's representatives will take part in all of the sector fairs. More than 400 Korean companies from all industrial sectors plan to be present. Korean partners will play a special role in presenting issues related to the trade fair's main theme.

The government in Seoul has set out plans under which all sectors recognized as being energy-intensive will have introduced technology allowing substantial reductions in energy consumption by 2012. This is one of the priority programs of the South Korean government and involves generous state subsidies for companies dealing best with the problem, so it is no wonder that Korean companies are working hard to develop new solutions.

The World Energy Dialogue congress will also be part of Hannover Messe. This event will bring together experts and politicians from many countries, including Russia, to discuss the future of the global energy sector and present the latest technological solutions that will contribute to a new global energy strategy being developed in the coming years.
Hannover Messe will take place April 20-24
