Best Script Selected
Adam Bauman’s script for the film Triple Mission won the top prize in the Polish part of the Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Contest. The film is based on the life of Saint Andrzej Bobola, a Polish Jesuit who died a martyr’s death in 1657.

The Hartley-Merrill Screenwriting Contest is one of the world’s most prestigious contests for scriptwriters. The main organizer of the Polish part of the competition is the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing in Warsaw. The scripts singled out for praise in the contest stand a good chance of making it to the silver screen.

Ad Market Expected to Slow
Due to an economic slowdown, Poland’s advertising market will grow no more than 3 percent this year, down from around 12 percent last year, according to Tomasz Che³mecki, general manager of Starlink Media House.

According to Che³mecki, spending on online advertisements will grow by 15-18 percent in 2009, down from around 30 percent last year. Spending on television commercials is expected to increase less than 10 percent, while spending on ads in daily newspapers is likely to decline, Che³mecki said.
