Links Between Music and Art
April 29, 2009
Article's tools:

The Zachęta National Gallery of Art is staging an exhibition entitled Invasion of Sound: Music and the Visual Arts. The exhibition explores esthetic links between visual arts and music in contemporary culture.

Artists featured in the exhibition use images and sound to elaborate on meaning, hint at moods, or to convey a message through contrasting music and images. In particular, the exhibition draws the viewer’s attention to the commonalties between different music genres, esthetic signatures and cultures, from brass bands to symphony orchestras, from street music to scores from road movies, and from chamber music to free jazz.

The exhibition at the Zachęta features almost 40 Polish and foreign artists whose works are arranged in sections entitled New Opera, Road, Nature, Techno, Pop, Silence, Music Performance, Jazz, and Traditional Music.
