Out and about
Ascetic But Unpretentious

If you have a good idea for a restaurant you are half way to success. The owners of the restaurant which opened last fall at the Industrial Design Institute in Warsaw’s Nowe Miasto neighborhood are already half way there with their choice of location. Design and culinary art blend into a satisfying whole at this venue, which is simply called Instytut.

The large restaurant room, rented from the Industrial Design Institute, is decorated sparsely with designer items and unpretentious, just like the menu. Some may consider this unpretentious style to be boring. Others choose this ascetic, quiet venue to enjoy a relaxing moment over a varied menu, which abounds in tasty and inexpensive dishes.

Try starting with the beef and poultry bouillon (zl.12) served with a meat and vegetable patty. Then choose the barbecued vegetables (zl.14) sprinkled with sesame seeds, olive oil and garlic. You can then move on to a more sophisticated, though still unpretentious, dish—three scoops of fluffy poultry paté (zl.15) with onion preserve. The preserve is delicious and its well-balanced sweet and sour taste harmonizes perfectly with the rich aroma of the paté. Meanwhile, lamb is served with bones and its texture is as delicate as its aroma.
