Officials from 80 small and medium-sized enterprises in the United States came to Warsaw to take part in a business forum called Trade Winds organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The U.S. embassy in Warsaw held the conference April 20-22. The event was accompanied by a trade mission of American companies interested in establishing business contacts and finding trade partners in Poland. Some of the visiting companies are already operating in Europe, but none of them has started business in Poland, Rochelle J. Lipsitz, the head of the mission, told Puls Biznesu newspaper. All the companies aspire to enter Poland and extend operations to other countries from here, she added.

According to Lipsitz, during an economic slowdown companies should come up with new products and services and seek opportunities on new markets. Poland is high on the list of potential new partners, because it is one of a few countries in the world expected to have a positive economic growth this year, Lipsitz said.

The companies that came to Warsaw included medical, chemical, aviation and transportation businesses and producers of machines.
