Warsaw's Le Meridien Bristol was named hotel of the year during the British-Polish Chamber of Commerce's sixth annual conference.

Hotels were nominated for the award by the chamber's members and the organization's board drew up a shortlist that was published on the chamber's website. The winner was chosen in an internet vote.

Le Meridien Bristol was praised for its tradition, architecture and service.

Two other hotels from the international Starwood Hotels & Resorts chain also made it into the Hotel of the Year 2008 shortlist: the Sheraton Poznań, and the Westin Warsaw.

In a survey of the 500 best hotels in the world compiled by U.S. monthly Travel & Leisure, Le Meridien Bristol was ranked 57th, and was the only Polish hotel to make it onto the list. It was also ranked 11th among the best 50 hotels in Europe.

Meanwhile, Conde Nast Traveller magazine described it as the best hotel in Poland.

Le Meridien Bristol is an Art Nouveau masterpiece built in the heart of Warsaw in 1901. It has long been a haunt of the famous and a popular rendezvous for artists.
