Opole Tunes up for Song Festival
June 3, 2009
Article's tools:

The southwestern city of Opole is preparing to host the 46th annual Polish Song Festival June 12-14, the largest and oldest pop music event in this country.

Held in the local open-air theater, this year's festival will begin on Friday, June 12, with a concert by singing actors who will perform a number of Polish hits.

Later in the day, young up-and-coming singers will perform popular Polish rock numbers in new arrangements prepared especially for the festival's Debuts concert.

The first day of the festival will also see the Premieres concert, which will feature prominent Polish musicians performing their newest songs.

The next day, Saturday, June 13, will see the Superjedynki concert that will feature the winners of a vote by viewers of public television channel TVP 1 and users of the superjedynki.tvp.pl website. The best performers will walk away with Superjedynka awards in five categories: album, band, artist, debut and hit of the year.

The second part of the night, entitled Kabareton, will feature a review of Poland's most popular cabaret acts.

Sunday, the last day of the festival, will see the Superduety concert in which "super duos" of young and veteran artists will perform well-known Polish hits.

All the festival concerts will be broadcast live by TVP 1, TV Polonia and online at www.opole2009.tvp.pl
