Dancing for children
"The World of Dance", an event that personified the true meaning of unifying for a cause, was held at the Hilton Hotel on Sunday, May 31.
Organized by some members of the British School community, who were assisted by a wide range of sponsors, the five-hour long afternoon event incorporated a colorful array of dance performances, ranging from the flawless skill of Poland's best wheelchair dancers, to the enthusiasm radiating from the amateur salsa dancers of The British School. Over 20 different styles of dance were seen. Performances were interrupted only by an elaborate Hilton buffet, as well as a lottery and an auction, where many lucky winners walked away with prizes.
In attendance were several VIPs, including Taniec z Gwiazdami star Zora Korolyov and television personality Vito Casetti, who was also hosting the event, as well as many members of Warsaw's diplomatic and international community.
And the cause? Raising money to buy specialist machinery for the Białystok Hospice for terminally ill children, a non-government charity introduced to the audience during a heart-wrenching but heart-warming presentation.
With zl.50,000 raised for the hospice, the event was a success, the tribute going to all the participants and sponsors who supported such a deserving cause.
