Magic of Vinyl

Article's tools:

The Warsaw record fair was brought back to life May 31 after a five-year hiatus. Every Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., visitors to the Fonobar club in Pole Mokotowskie Park can sell, buy and swap records and hunt for rare collector's items. The revived fair is a response to growing demand for vinyl records and other rare releases. The organizers hope the fair can again become a cult meeting spot and even draw collectors from across Poland as during the fair's heyday.

The fair closed in 2004. Until then, for more than four decades it had been one of few places during the communist era where Polish people could catch up with music from the West. It used to be held at legendary Warsaw clubs like Hybrydy and Stodoła. Now, visitors to the fair can take a walk in Mokotowskie Park, enjoy a barbecue and beer. If the weather is fine, the record fair will be held in the Fonobar yard and move back inside during autumn and winter.

You can access the Fonobar club from Wawelska Street, and there is plenty of room to park a car.
