Google Poland, Novo Nordisk Pharma and Alior Bank top a list of the best places to work in this country drawn up by the Great Place to Work® Institute Polska company.

Poland was this year included for the first time in an annual poll of best employers carried out in some 40 countries.

The list includes Polish companies that encourage reliability, respect, justice, pride and friendliness in relations between employees and managers.

"It is inspiring, in times that are certainly not easy for business, to see the winning companies sticking to their basic personnel management principles based on trust and team spirit," said Paweł Bochniarz, president of the Great Place to Work® Institute Polska. "Thanks to that, those firms become still more efficient and innovative. They are also better prepared for a pick-up in the economic situation," said Bochniarz. "The current crisis is in many respects a test for many companies, whose managers must show responsibility as leaders and not neglect the question of human capital management in difficult business conditions," he added.

The final list was compiled on the basis of answers by employees questioned in a survey and an audit of companies' work culture.

Polish employees were asked to answer 60 questions, including 57 taken from an international survey, an additional question drawn up for European countries, and two questions included only in the Polish version of the poll.

Firms that were contenders for a place on the list needed to meet two basic conditions: to have operated on the market for at least a year, and to employ a staff of at least 50.

The Great Place to Work® Institute is a research and management consultancy based in the United States with international affiliate offices throughout the world.
