Thrash metal band Anthrax from New York City are coming to Warsaw's Stodoła club to give their only concert in Poland July 28. The gig is part of the group's European tour promoting its latest album Worship Music, slated for release later this year. The tour kicked off June and will continue until Aug. 1 with concerts in Germany, Britain, Croatia and the Czech Republic.

Anthrax play thrash metal, a subgenre of heavy metal which incorporates punk. The band are one of the "Big Four" of thrash alongside Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. Anthrax were also one of the first groups to combine a heavy metal sound with hip-hop.

Although they have been around since the mid-1980s, Anthrax got unexpected publicity after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001 when, in the aftermath of anthrax alerts, attempts were made at forcing the band to change its name.

The Warsaw concert is being organized by the Go Ahead agency in Poznań. For more information on the venue and prices, go to www.go-ahead.pl. The media patron of the Anthrax gig is the Polish rock and metal website www.rockmetal.pl
