Mozart Festival
July 1, 2009
Article's tools:

Warsaw is hosting the 19th Mozart Festival June 15-July 26. The event is being organized by the Warsaw Chamber Opera (WOK) with support from the Pro Musica Camerata Foundation, a leading distributor of musical scores in Poland. The festival aims to stage performances of the whole corpus of Mozart's works, including pieces for the stage. This year's highlights include the operas Don Giovanni and Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro). Mozart's great symphonic works and masses, and the famous unfinished Requiem will also be performed.

Festival performances in the WOK headquarters start at 7 p.m. every day. Tickets are available from the WOK box office. Symphony concerts will take place in the Seminary Church, the Palace on Water in the Royal Łazienki Park and the Grand Hall in the Warsaw Castle. For the first time this year, young musicians will perform individually at a Chamber Concert July 4. As every year, German conductor Kai Bumann will take part in the festival. The Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage is the festival patron. For festival program details and ticket prices, go to www.operakameralna.pl
