Polish inventors won 26 medals at the 108th Concours Lépine International Inventions Fair in Paris April 30-May 10.

The event took place at the city's Porte de Versailles Convention Center, attracting more than 500 inventions from 12 countries.

Inventions submitted for the competition were evaluated by a panel of 47 business experts and scientists. The judges applied criteria such as the level of innovation, technology, market demand and efficiency.

The competition results were announced at an awards ceremony May 9. A total of 172 inventions won awards. Polish inventions won seven gold medals, seven silver, and seven bronze. They also won five medals from the French Association of Inventors and Manufacturers (AIFF).

The Concours Lepine is a major international exhibition that has been held since 1901. The event attracts much media attention and crowds of visitors. This year's fair was under the auspices of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
