15th International Jazz in the Old Town Festival

Aug. 1-Włodzimierz Nahorny Trio
One of the best and most popular jazz musicians in Poland, Włodzimierz Nahorny is a pianist, composer and arranger. He is a precursor of modern jazz in this country. With his trio, he will give a special concert entitled "Listen to Music with Us," commemorating 65 years since the start of the Warsaw Uprising.

Aug. 8-Katy Roberts Quartet
An acclaimed American jazz pianist, composer and arranger, Katy Roberts graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston where she is now a teacher. She has worked with the likes of Alan Dawson, Gene Jackson, Billy Hart, Kurtis Rivers, Antonio Hart, and Salim Washington. Her trio, quartet, quintet and most recently sextet have given concerts in Europe, Africa and the United States.

Aug. 15-Silvana Malta Quartet
Brazilian female vocalist and composer Silvana Malta is a master of the bossa nova. This is her first time in Warsaw. Hailing from the Rio de Janeiro area, Malta started performing with her sisters at age 17. She went on to work with the popular Toninho Horta Band and was a vocalist with Hermeto Pascoal's group. She has performed at festivals and concerts in Brazil and New York City.

Aug. 22-Bobo Stenson Trio
In the early days of his career, pianist Bobo Stenson accompanied jazz stars such as Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins and Gary Bartz and worked closely with Don Cherry. He was also a member of the George Russells Nordic Orchestra and made recordings with Palle Danielsson and Jan Garbarek. He also played with Dexter Gordon, the Charles Lloyd quartet, and gave regular performances with Tomasz Stańko in the 1990s.

Aug. 29-Torsten Goods and Band
Hailed as a new discovery on the jazz scene, Torsten Goods, age 28, has recorded four excellent albums with his band, winning enthusiastic reviews, prestigious awards and applause at concerts across Europe, Asia and the United States.
