Original Souvenirs on Show
Original souvenirs from Warsaw were displayed at the Złote Tarasy shopping mall in the city center Aug. 26-Sept. 9. The exhibition showed off entries from three competitions which the Warsaw City Promotion Office and the "Bęc Zmiana" Foundation held as part of efforts to promote Warsaw as a contender for the European Culture Capital in 2016.
Plasma screens at Złote Tarasy showed designs by students and graduates of the Faculty of Industrial Design of the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw. Producers are particularly interested in Chopin-related memorabilia, ahead of next year's 200th anniversary of the composer's birth. Several items already turned from concept to reality, including a depiction of Chopin's nose made of china, were on display in a glass case
The organizers say another competition may be launched to combine the ideas of young and talented designers in Poland and abroad.
