The Chopin museum in Warsaw has received a precious gift from the Chopin Foundation based in Miami-an 1847 Pleyel piano with Chopin's autograph. Chopin was probably asked to sign the piano by its buyer, Mme. de Reymont, who was his student.

"It is a fortunate coincidence that the Fryderyk Chopin Institute is preparing a special exhibition as part of the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of his birth on March 1, 2010," Blanka Rosenstiel, honorary consul of Poland and founder of the Chopin Foundation said.

"The Pleyel no. 13,555 will be an important part of the new exhibition and a contribution by the American Chopin Foundation to this special occasion."

Set up in 1977, the Chopin Foundation organizes Chopin competitions in Miami and Chopin concerts in southern Florida. As part of cooperation between the foundation and the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, young Polish pianists give concerts in the United States and American pianists give concerts in Poland.
