Figurative Sculpture at Studio
September 30, 2009
Article's tools:

Warsaw's Studio Gallery is hosting two exhibitions by figurative sculptors: Marzenna Olszewska's Z g這wy do g這wy (From Head to Head) and Marek Kowalski's Wej軼ie/Wyj軼ie (Entrance/Exit), until Oct. 11.

The work by Kowalski dates from the early 1990s until now. He uses techniques characteristic of the late Gothic, involving lime wood, polychrome and gilding, and he formally refers to that period to address the problems of today.

The work by Olszewska on show is a series she started not long ago and which she is continuing. The exhibition consists of 20 portrait heads of people close to the artist. The heads are made from ceramic clay painted in colors designed to correspond to the characters of the models.
